Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Chris Myers

Wildcats Outlasted in Five to Tornado, Fedd Downs 33 Winners

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – It was the rematch of the Wildcats spikers first ever match from 377 days ago and the outcome was as close a match could be from the inaugural one. Fort Valley State could not come closer to winning as it did Friday night when King University outlasted it in a 3-2 men's volleyball marathon.

After having three match points in the late fifth set, FVSU (0-3) could not post the final tally. King (3-7) brushed off those match points to tie game five for the 17th time before a kill and a home attack error ended the match-deciding set, 19-17.

The Wildcats came out strong and took the first set, 25-23, before the Tornado rallied for a 25-22 and 29-27 middle sets wins and 2-1 advantage. FVSU had its best set in the fourth to force a fifth with a 25-17 final.

Having a monster night, Isaiah Fedd powered a program-record 33 kills with only three errors in 55 swings for a .545 attack percentage. The freshman also had four assists, two aces, two digs and a pair of blocks.

Jamil Scott downed 14 kills of his own with eight digs and two blocks, while Jaxon Hicks chipped in 12 kills, .455 attack and five digs. Justin Yates dished out his career-high 64 assists to go with eight digs and three blocks. Diego Cardona added 16 digs.

Jackson Carroll produced 21 kills for King.

FVSU continues its 3-game weekend at home with a 5 p.m. Saturday evening, Jan. 28, match against the University of Mount Olive.
