Trojans Prevail over Wildcats Spikers

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Despite being down a half dozen players, the Wildcats battled hard against one of the Conference Carolinas best teams. The University of Mount Olive hit solidly and prevailed over Fort Valley State Saturday afternoon, 3-0.

The Trojans (4-1) took the opening two sets, 25-18 and 25-20. The Wildcats (0-4), though did not go down easily. In a back-and-forth third set, FVSU edged ahead late on a Jaxon Hicks kill, 20-19. The home team also enjoyed short leads of 21-20 and then 23-21 on another Hicks winner. Mount Olive finished the match with the final four points and 25-23 final.

Hicks finished with 10 kills, five digs and two blocks for the Wildcats. Isaiah Fedd downed a team-high 12 kills, laced five aces and dug four attacks. Jamil Scott chipped in fie kills. Jose Gallardo dished out 17 assists.
Hayden Frear led the Trojans with 10 kills.

FVSU finishes it three-match home weekend with a 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, contest against Campbellsville University
