Gibbs Celebrated on Wildcat Senior Night, Lady Tigers Prevail in Match

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Wildcats celebrated 'Senior Night' before the Tuesday night home finale. After Fort Valley State tied the match at a set, Savannah State grabbed the final two sets to prevail, 3-1, in women's volleyball action.
 
The two SIAC rivals traded 25-20 scores in the opening two sets, before the Lady Tigers (11-9/8-8 SIAC East) took the third set by the same 25-20 final. The Wildcats (10-13/5-11 SIAC East) pulled to within two points, 9-7, midway through the fourth before the visitors ran off six points in a row for the eventual 25-15 final.
 
FVSU honored lone senior Hallea Gibbs in the pregame. The Loganville, Ga., native stands as the team leader in kills on the season, now with 208 after eight kills Tuesday night  to go with eight digs, two aces and two assists.

Laila Hilton, Laiani McCullough and Raven Edwards all downed six kills apiece. Morgan Hebert handed out 27 assists, while Kaila Copeland dug 10 attacks.
 
Destinee Langston led Savannah State with 15 kills and 13 digs.
 
FVSU heads on the road for a Thursday night, October 26, at LaGrange College starting at 7 p.m.
