FVSU Volleyball Outlasted by Allen, Tough Match Versus Benedict Sunday

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Wildcats' Sunday pair went from having the momentum to having a tough latter match. Fort Valley State women's volleyball was outlasted at Allen, 3-2, before Benedict College won the team's second match, 3-0.
 
After dropping the opening set by a close 25-23 final, the Wildcats (11-15) rebounded with solid 25-18 and 25-17 sets 2 and 3 to take a 2-1 advantage. The Yellow Jackets slipped past the fourth set, 25-22, to force a fifth. In the match-deciding set, FVSU started hot with the opening two points and was enjoying an 8-1 lead in the short set. Allen, though chipped away to 9-6 and then at 10-6 produced the next six tallies to edge ahead 12-10. FVSU did score the next point to get back within a point, 12-11, but the home team netted three of the next five points for the match win, 15-13.
 
In the late afternoon match, the Lady Tigers swept the Wildcats by scores of 25-9, 25-11 and 25-15.
