MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Wildcats tough early season continued on its longest contest away from home Saturday evening. LeMoyne-Owen College used a 12-2 run to pull away from Fort Valley State in the early second half and took the men's basketball match up, 94-78.
Trailing by three points at half, the Wildcats cut the margin to a single points two times on a Myson Lowe bucket 37 seconds into the second stanza and Jahlen Jack equaled the feat 26 seconds later for a 44-43 score. The Magicians, though, had the slight of hand as they tallied 12 of the next 14 points to open an 11-point advantage, 56-45. FVSU came back to within nine points two times, 56-47 and 64-55, but LeMoyne-Owen allowed them to get no closer in the final 13 minutes of action.
Lowe paced the FVSU attack with 13 points and two assists, while Jack added 11 tallies and four assists. Both Kenton Eskridge and Davorian Rudolph contributed 10 points apiece, while Pierre Mitchell and Quincy Young each had nine points with Young grabbing six boards.
Christian Wells led all scorers with 24 points for the Magicians.
