ATLANTA, Ga. – A rebound Wildcats week and honors followed. Fort Valley State men's basketball swept the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player and Newcomer of the Week awards with K.J. Doucet and Myson Lowe grabbing the notoriety.

The two Wildcat sophomores helped FVSU post its 10th and 11th victories of the season in last Monday and Saturday's contests. FVSU (11-15/9-10 SIAC East) scored nine of the 11 points in overtime to prevail at Allen, 76-69, before it won the rivalry rematch at Albany State, 66-56, over the weekend.

Doucet averaged 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and a steal in the two wins. The forward made 5 of 10 shots and all 11 attempts from the foul line for 21 points to go with five assists, four rebounds and a pair of steals over Allen. At ASU, the Austell, Ga., product hit six field goals and connected on 5 of 6 from the line for a team-high 17 points and seven boards with an assist.

Lowe added another Newcomer of the Week honor with a solid 12.5-point and 3.5-rebound average. The Atlanta, Ga., native started last week with making 5 of 6 free throws in overtime of his 11 points, four rebounds and one assist night at Allen. Last Saturday, Lowe's 3-pointer gave the Wildcats their largest first-half lead of 15 points and netted 10 of his 14 points in the opening half. He also had a pair of 3-pointers, three rebounds and a steal.

The FVSU duo head into the Wildcats' final two regular season games, both at home, as the team's top two scorers and only two double-digit averages. Doucet leads the team at 15.9 points, while Lowe stands at 11.8 tallies per night. K.J. has the most field goals made (128), while Myson has 51 treys. Both are two of the best from the foul line with Lowe at .824 (56 of 68) and Doucet at .757 (128 of 169). Doucet also is second on the team at 4.9 rebounds per night and Lowe leads the assists from the backcourt with 2.6 per game.

FVSU returns to action on the HPE Arena court this Saturday afternoon, Feb. 18, in a 3 p.m. matchup against Edward Waters University.
