Maddox Top-Notch Outing Garners SIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcat freshman's first win could not have been in more impressive fashion. Fort Valley State's Kryssi Maddox posted a top-notch outing last Sunday and garnered the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week honor.

Maddox from Roberta, Ga., was masterful against Clark Atlanta last Sunday to help FVSU complete its three-game sweep of the weekend series by a 2-1 final score.

In the circle, the first-year pitcher allowed only one hit without an earned run while she fanned 11 Lady Panthers batters and walked three in her first collegiate win and complete game.

Over the first part of the 2023 season, Maddox has five appearances over 16.1 innings of work with a 1-2 record and a 3.00 ERA. She has allowed 15 hits and seven earned run, while she has struck out 21.

FVSU returns to the field on Friday afternoon (March 3) in a 1 and 3 p.m. doubleheader at Wildcat Field against Edward Waters.
