Doucet Voted D2 CCA All-South Region Men’s Basketball 2nd Team

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Wildcats leading scorer and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year added to his awards. Fort Valley State's K.J. Doucet was voted to the 2022-23 Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-South Region Men's Basketball Second Team.
 
The sophomore forward was the SIAC's lone honoree of the 10 South Region players voted on by the Region's Athletic Communications Directors. Doucet joined a highly talented group, which he is one of only three sophomores on the two teams, with undefeated Nova Southeastern's R.J. Sunahara as the Player of the Year.
 
The Wildcat from Austell, Ga., burst onto the scene a year ago and has continued to elevate his game with each time he donned the FVSU Blue & Gold uniform. The SIAC's top player finished the regular season where he averaged 16.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game. K.J. was fifth in scoring, 11th in free throw percentage (.755 – 139 of 184) and 17th in rebounding among his league counterparts. The 2021-22 SIAC Freshman of the Year improved his scoring by 1.3 points per contest and handed out 17 more assists.
 
Doucet finished the 2022-23 with his best stretch of production of the season, which coincided with the FVSU team going 4-1 in those final five contests. Over those five games, the 6-7 wing player averaged 21.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest. The three-time SIAC Player of the Week completed the season with a career-high 31 points to go with 10 rebounds, his second double-double of the year, two assists, a block and a steal.
 
The second-year Wildcat led the team in points scored (484), field goals made (149) and free throws made (152), while he is second in rebounds (152), assists (59), steals (32) and 3-pointer field goals made (34). Doucet scored in double figures in 27 of 29 games this season with eight 20-plus point outings.
 
In his first 57 games, Doucet has netted 902 points (15.8 ppg), 74 3-pointers made, 302 rebounds (5.3 rpg), 99 assists (1.7 apg), 63 steals and 18 blocked shots.
