Wildcats Have Tough Day Against Railsplitters

HARROGATE, Tenn. – The Wildcats wrapped up its non-conference slate on Saturday afternoon. Fort Valley State had a tough day as host Lincoln Memorial captured the match in straight sets, 3-0, in men's volleyball.
 
The Wildcats (5-14) trailed by only a slim 9-7 margin in the opening set only to see the Railsplitters post six of the next seven points for a 15-8 lead and added four the final five tallies to end the set, 25-14. Tied at 4-4 in set number two, LMU outscored its visitors, 11-3, in the next run before it went on for the 25-12 final. FVSU started set three even, 7-7, but again the home team recorded the next six points and didn't let the margin get below five to end the match, 25-19.
 
Isaiah Fedd downed nine kills and three digs to guide the FVSU attack. Jaxon Hicks added four kills and a block, while Justin Yates handed out 14 assists.
 
Cole Campisano paced LMU with 12 winners.
 
FVSU returns to SIAC play next Friday (March 24) in a 6 p.m. road match at Benedict College.
