ASU Keeps FVSU Off Scoreboard, Takes Series Finale

ALBANY, Ga. – The Wildcats could not capitalize on their chances to end the weekend. Albany State held Fort Valley State to five hits on Sunday afternoon in a 5-0 softball final to wrap up the 3-game series.

Mariah Williams led the game off with a single, stole second, moved to third on a ground out, but was thrown out at home. The Wildcats (16-21) did not advance a runner past second until Kryssi Maddox led off the top of the seventh with a double and moved to third three batters later on a wild pitch but was left stranded. ASU pushed home scores in the first, third and fourth frames before two insurance tallies in the fifth for the day's only scoring.

Along with Maddox's double and the Williams single, E'Lisia Vickers, Riley Jenkins and Destiny Fitzpatrick also lined hits.

FVSU wraps up its regular season and home contests in a Tuesday afternoon (April 25) doubleheader against Trinity Baptist. First pitch of Game 1 is at 12:00 p.m.
