Batts Throws Hammer to Second Place, Wildcat Women Stand Fourth at SIAC T&F Champs

ATLANTA, Ga. – With most of the finals of the events coming on Saturday, the Wildcats put athletes on the podium Friday. Na'dejah Batts threw the second-best hammer throw and Aquila Kerr vaulted to third as the top Day 2 Fort Valley State performances at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships.

Batts sent the hammer 42.47 meters to register the second-longest distance in the event. For the hammer throw event, her teammate Miniya Miller was a solid fifth place at 39.17 meters.

Kerr top placing of her two from Friday's action was a third in the women's pole vault. She vaulted 2.00 meters.

In the other Wildcat placings, Shekinah Rachel and Kerr went back-to-back in fifth and sixth for the triple jump at leaps of 10.87 and 10.83 meters.

The FVSU women go into Saturday's final day in fourth place, while the men are still in fifth.
