Williams Helps Team Betty Chapman Win MSP HBCU All-Star Softball Game

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – A Wildcat honor was part of a win last Friday. Fort Valley State's Mariah Williams helped Team Betty Chapman win the Inaugural Minority Softball Prospects HBCU All-Star Game played last Friday night at Georgia Gwinnett College.
 
The Wildcats' Williams was one of 40 best HBCU women's softball players from across NCAA Division I, Division II and NAIA schools from across the country.
 
Starting 40 games at short stop, Williams was FVSU's lone All-Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First Team selection. The junior led the team in runs scored (41), triples (2), home runs (4), hit by pitch (16), on base percentage (.503) and stolen bases (23). Mariah rounded out her numbers with a .383 batting average (44 of 115), three doubles and 22 RBI.
