14th Annual Lomax-Porter Charity Golf Tournament Sets Record

MACON, Ga. – It was a great day on the links all-around for the Wildcats and their supporters. The 14^th Annual Lomax-Porter Charity Golf Tournament set a new fundraising record for the Fort Valley State athletics department.

The Lomax-Porter Charity Golf Tournament, in partnership with the Growl Club, honors legendary FVSU football coaches Stan Lomax and Douglas Porter. Proceeds from the tournament help fund scholarships for student-athletes and support FVSU athletic programs.

The 14th annual tournament was held at River North Country Club in Macon on July 8. Golfers of every skill level were invited to compete for prizes and, most importantly, bragging rights!

First-place honors went to David Danzie, Matt Moree, Sean Sullivan, and Peyton Hoff of Team Synovus. Larry Johnson, Earl Thornton, Nate West, and Willie Daniel received second place as a team. The third-place team consisted of Andrew Reese (Not Pictured), Andre Lacey, Mary Riley, and James Vincent.

This year's tournament exceeded its $65,000 goal to set a new event record.
