ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcats posted Saturday points in six events. D'liyah Austell placed in four events and Fort Valley State grabbed sixth in the final team standings of the 2024 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Championship.
Austell recorded her best placing of the day in the 400-meter dash in second with a time of 56.13. Individually, she also grabbed sixth in the 200 meters at 25.52 and eighth for the 100 meters (13.32).
Austell took care of the anchor leg of the 4x100-meter relay team along with Bridgette Clarke, Aquila Kerr and Caly Cage for third in a time of 47.53.
The Wildcats registered 68.50 points in the three-day event, which was good enough for sixth place. Albany State took away the team title with 154 points while Benedict College and Clark Atlanta were second (117) and third (104.50).
After placing in multiple Friday events, Kerr also earned a fourth place height of 1.55 meters in the high jump.
Montana Williams completed the FVSU effort with an eighth place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 22:45.37.
The FVSU national qualifiers will have a month off until the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships will be May 23-25 in Emporia, KS.
