Wildcats Win Under the Lights Showdown vs. Miles

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Fort Valley State University Football (4-5, 4-3 SIAC) closed out its home slate with a Senior Night victory, defeating Miles College (3-7, 3-4 SIAC) 24-14 on Saturday evening.

The Golden Bears struck first, capping a six-play, 53-yard drive with a four-yard touchdown run to take a 7-0 lead. The Wildcats responded with a 47-yard drive, ending in a 28-yard field goal from Kyle Keese to make it 7-3.

FVSU took its first lead of the game early in the second quarter when Donovan Anthony connected with Amarey Morrow for a 31-yard touchdown pass. Keese added the extra point to give the Wildcats a 10-7 advantage. Miles answered with a 44-yard drive capped by another short rushing touchdown to regain the lead at 14-10.

The Wildcats wasted little time responding, going 65 yards in just two plays. Saadiq Teel found J.T. Pendleton for a 33-yard touchdown strike, and Keese's extra point made it 17-14.

In the third quarter, Alexander Wilson extended the Wildcats' lead with a three-yard rushing touchdown, and Keese remained perfect on the night to make it 24-14. Neither team found the end zone in the fourth quarter, as FVSU secured the Senior Night win.

The Wildcats utilized a two-quarterback system with Teel and Anthony sharing duties under center. Teel went 8-for-14 for 141 yards and a touchdown, while Anthony finished 4-for-6 for 52 yards and a score.

Wilson led the ground game with 83 yards on 16 carries and one touchdown. Michael Caballero added 32 yards on eight carries. Pendleton paced the receivers with two catches for 50 yards and a touchdown, followed by Donte Curry with a 43-yard reception and Morrow's 31-yard touchdown grab.

Defensively, Jadyn Walker led the charge with nine tackles, including a sack for a 10-yard loss and a forced fumble. DeZavion Holman added four solo tackles, three tackles for loss totaling 24 yards, and two sacks for 23 yards.

The Wildcats will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 8, for the 35th Annual Fountain City Classic against Albany State University. Kickoff in Columbus, Ga., is set for 2 p.m.
