TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Fort Valley State University Men's Basketball (1-2, 0-2 SIAC) dropped a hard-fought 91-89 overtime battle at Tuskegee University (2-1, 1-0 SIAC) Thursday evening.
The Wildcats opened strong with a 4-0 run on back-to-back buckets from
Jaylen Jackson. After the game was tied at eight, FVSU regained control, taking an 11-10 lead on a
Danny Delgardo III free throw. The Wildcats continued to build momentum, pushing ahead 30-18 before the Golden Tigers closed the gap. Fort Valley State held firm and carried a 40-36 advantage into halftime.
FVSU extended its lead early in the second half with two Jackson free throws and later moved in front 51-41 on an
Aidan Lambert layup. Tuskegee responded with a push of its own, trimming the deficit to one and eventually reclaiming the lead, 57-56. The teams traded baskets down the stretch, and with under a minute remaining, the Golden Tigers led by three. Delgardo III delivered in the clutch, knocking down a game-tying three to send it to overtime at 78-78.
Tuskegee opened the extra period with a dunk and held a slim lead for most of the frame. With under 30 seconds remaining,
Khirus Doucet sank two free throws to tie the game at 89. However, a last-second layup lifted the Golden Tigers to the 91-89 win.
Delgardo III stayed red-hot for the Wildcats, pouring in 28 points on 8-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc. Lambert followed with 17 points on an efficient 6-for-8 performance, including 3-for-4 from three-point range. Jackson added 16 points, going 6-for-9 from the field.

The Wildcats return to action on the road at Miles College on Saturday, Nov. 22. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. CT / 4 p.m. ET.
