ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcat was her usual tough out last week. Fort Valley State's Leah Leonard hit her way to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week announced on Tuesday.

Leonard produced a 10 for 14 weekend for a .714 average over four games, including going 8 for 11 against a trio of DI foes in the HBCU Invitational. Along with the 10 hits, the sophomore scored six runs, lined a double, triple and home run with seven RBI.

The Wildcat third baseman recorded at least two hits in every game with four against Grambling State. She opened the weekend with a 2 for 3 day with a double and one RBI in a 5-1 win over Claflin University.

Leonard finished last Friday with a second 2 for 3 outing, including a home run against Alabama A&M.

In Saturday's first game, Leah was a perfect 4 for 4 with two runs, a triple and four RBI versus Grambling State. She followed with a third 2-hit contest in four at bats with a run and one RBI against Southern University.

Leonard and FVSU return to action this weekend in Columbia, S.C., as they open SIAC East play against Benedict College. Saturday's doubleheader starts at 1 p.m.
