FORT VALLEY, Ga.- Fort Valley State University softball (12-16, 9-9 SIAC) conclude conference series with Savannah State University (11-14, 7-8 SIAC) with a 5-1 loss, Sunday afternoon.
SSU jumped out in front in the second inning bringing two runs around to score on an error and a base hit. The Wildcats made it 2-1 in the third inning on a
Leah Leonard single to left field. A two RBI double in the fifth made it 4-1 Tigers and a RBI single in the seventh solidified the 5-1 win.
Leonard was the lone batsman with multiple hits going 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Tenison Myricks got the start and the loss in the circle. She threw five innings with four runs scoring, three of which were earned on seven hits.
Taylor Watson closed the game tossing the final two innings with a run scoring on a single hit.
The Wildcats are back in action as they host Paine College on Thursday, March 27th in doubleheader fashion. The first game is set for 1:00 p.m. with game two to follow.
