FORT VALLEY, Ga.- Diamond Richardson of Fort Valley State University women's track & field earns nationals qualification in discus as the only Southern Intercolegiate Athletics Conference thrower to do so thus far in the season. 

Four meets into the season and Richardson secures her place at nationals in discus. She displayed excellent body control and explosive power at the Emory University Spring Break Classic with a 49.50m throw securing her spot in nationals. 

Richardson said, "Qualifying for nationals as a senior this early in the season mean's everything to me especially after coming back from surgery."

So far through her senior season Richardson has seven top three finishes. This includes placing first four times. She nabbed two in discus, and one in shot put and hammer. Richardson also finished in second twice this season: once in discus and one in shot put. She also had a lone third place finish in discus.
