MOBILE, ALA.- Fort Valley State University women's tennis falls 7-0 to Spring Hill College and 5-2 to Edward Waters University in two make up matches.
First Match (SHC)
In doubles play, the Wildcats secured a victory at No. 2, where
Avery Harris and
Samaar Davis defeated Romina Kroemer and Emma Pager in a tightly contested match, winning 7-6 with a 10-6 tiebreaker. However, the No. 1 duo of
Valerie Dorelien and
Jordynn Middlebrooks fell 6-0 to Emma Koch and Brooke Powers, while the Wildcats forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.
In singles competition, FVSU fought hard but were unable to secure a victory. At No. 1, Dorelien fell to Koch 6-0, 6-3, while at No. 2, Middlebrooks was defeated by Powers 6-0, 6-0. In the No. 3 singles match, Harris pushed Kroemer to a third set but ultimately fell 4-6, 6-1, 10-7. Davis, competing at No. 4, dropped her match to Pager 6-4, 6-1. Fort Valley also forfeited the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches.
Second Match (EWU)
In doubles play, FVSU earned a dominant win at No. 2 as
Avery Harris and
Samaar Davis cruised past Nadja Dzetelovic and Andrea Rodriguez with a commanding 6-0 victory. At No. 1 doubles,
Valerie Dorelien and
Jordynn Middlebrooks battled but fell 6-3 to Aalsiha Alexis and Giulia Peres. The Wildcats forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.
The Wildcats picked up two strong wins in singles competition. At No. 3, Harris delivered a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory over Rodriguez, while Davis dominated at No. 4, defeating Lara Viehrig 6-1, 6-0. However, the team faced tough losses at the top of the lineup, with Dorelien falling 6-1, 6-1 to Alexis at No. 1 and Middlebrooks dropping her match to Peres by the same score. FVSU also forfeited the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches.
The Wildcats continue their appearance in the second SIAC Round Up of the season with 9 a.m. match with Spring Hill and a 1 p.m. match with Albany State University on Wednesday, April 2.
