MOBILE, Ala.- Fort Valley State University women's tennis drop two matches in the opening day of the SIAC Round Up #2.
Match one (SHC)
In doubles play, FVSU fought hard but were unable to come away with a win. At No. 1, Johnathan Allen and Joshua Allen fell 6-3 to Eliyahu Pinkney and Tyler Ladge. The No. 2 pairing of Kayden Alexander and Ayden Anderson dropped a 6-1 match to Kevin Eutsey and Justice Wilson, while the No. 3 duo of Aurther Mackey and Devin Joseph fell 6-1 to Symon Brown and Zamani Moyo.
Fort Valley found success in singles play, with Anderson securing a strong 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jack Shaw at No. 2. Alexander earned a win at No. 4 by default. However, the team faced tough competition in the other singles matches. At No. 1, Johnathan Allen fell 6-0, 6-0 to Moyo, while Joshua Allen was defeated by Eutsey by the same score at No. 3. Mackey battled at No. 5 but fell to Torain Alleyen 6-0, 6-0. Rounding out singles play, Braden Dandridge dropped a 6-0, 6-1 match to Ty'lon Miller at No. 6.
Match two (ASU)
In doubles play, the Wildcats fought hard but were unable to secure a victory. At No. 1 doubles,
Avery Harris and
Samaar Davis fell 6-0 to Emma Koch and Brooke Powers. The No. 2 duo of
Valerie Dorelien and
Jordynn Middlebrooks battled but came up short in a 6-3 loss to Emma Pager and Romina Kroemer. The Wildcats forfeited the No. 3 doubles match.
In singles competition, FVSU continued to compete despite facing a tough lineup. At No. 1, Middlebrooks fell 6-1, 6-0 to Koch, while at No. 2, Dorelien dropped her match to Powers 6-1, 6-1. Davis put up a strong fight at No. 3 before falling to Kroemer 7-5, 6-0. Harris battled in a marathon match at No. 4 but ultimately fell to Alicia Wilson 7-6, 6-4, 10-7. The Wildcats forfeited the No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches.
The Wildcats are back in action Thursday, April 3rd with a 9 a.m. face off with Benedict College and a 1 p.m. face off with Clark Atlanta University.
