Men's Round Up Day Two Final

Wildcats pick up one of two in the SIAC Round Up #2 on day two

MOBILE, Ala.- Fort Valley State University men's tennis open the second day of the SIAC Round Up No. 2 with a 5-2 win over LeMoyne-Owen College and close the day with a 7-0 loss to Spring Hill College. 

Match one (LOC)

In doubles action,FVSU took two of three matches. The No. 2 pairing of Ayden Anderson and Kayden Alexander earned a dominant 6-1 win over Randall Carter and Neville Chirewa. At No. 3, Arthur Mackey and Braden Dandridge secured a 6-2 victory against Amier Cooper and Nate Banda. The No. 1 duo of Jonathan Allen and Joshua Allen fought hard but fell 6-2 to Tadiwa Mufute and Kudzaishe Chirochierwa.

Fort Valley took control in singles play, winning four of six matches. At No. 2, Mackey edged out Chirochierwa in a tight contest, 6-4, 7-5. Anderson dominated at No. 3 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Carter, while Alexander followed with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory against Cooper at No. 4. At No. 5, Jonathan Allen added to the Wildcats' success with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Chirewa. At No. 1 singles, Joshua Allen pushed Mufute to three sets but ultimately fell 4-6, 6-1. In No. 6 singles, Dandridge battled but came up short in a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Banda.

Match two (SHC) 

In doubles competition, the Wildcats struggled against a strong opponent. The No. 1 pair of Joseph and White fell 6-0 to Gutermann and Bosman, while the No. 2 duo of Braden Dandridge and Malachi Glover dropped their match 6-0 to Huckell and Torres. At No. 3 doubles, Jonathan Allen and Joshua Allen were also defeated 6-0 by Patton and Rios.

The singles matches followed a similar pattern, with FVSU unable to break through. White battled at No. 1 singles but fell 6-0, 6-0 to Gutermann. At No. 2, Joseph lost 6-0, 6-0 to Bosman, while Dandridge dropped his No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-0 to Ruel. Glover fell 6-0, 6-0 to Huckell at No. 4 singles.
At No. 5 singles, Jonathan Allen was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Patton, while Joshua Allen put up a fight at No. 6 before falling 6-1, 6-0 to Rios.

The Wildcats continue their Round up stint with a 9 a.m. square off with Benedict College.
