ROME, Ga.- Fort Valley State University Tennis finished their four day stay in Rome for the SIAC Round-up.
March 5
Match one
Men's tennis suffered a 7-0 loss against Spring Hill College, with the final score reflecting a dominant performance by SHC. FVSU struggle across all doubles and singles lines.
In doubles play, the first team of
Ayden Anderson and
Kayden Alexander battled hard but ultimately fell 6-2 to Tom Guttermann and Hugo Blasco Granell. The second doubles pairing of
Joshua Allen and
Devin Joseph faced a tough challenge against Philip Bosman and Will Huckell, losing 6-0. The third doubles duo of Jonathan and
Arthur Mackey also couldn't find their rhythm, losing 6-1 to Noe Hauschildt and Tom Ruel.
The singles competition mirrored the struggles from doubles, with Fort Valley State unable to secure a win. At the first singles spot, Joshua faced Gutterman but came up short, losing in straight sets.
Mackey, playing in the second singles position, also suffered a two-set loss to Bosman. Anderson was defeated in straight sets by Luke Tucker at the third spot, while Jonathan fought but was unable to overcome Hauschildt in the fourth singles position.
Ruel struggled against Alexander in the fifth singles match, falling in two sets, and
Williams White was defeated by Blasco in the sixth singles match.
March 6
Match one
Men's tennis suffered a 6-1 loss to LeMoyne-Owen College in a match where they showed moments of promise but were ultimately outmatched by their opponents.
In doubles play, the first pairing of Mackey and Joshua fought hard but came up just short, losing 7-5 to Tadiwa Mafute and Kudzaishe Chirochia. The second doubles team of Alexander and Anderson delivered a bright spot for the Wildcats, securing a solid 6-3 victory over Randall Carter and Biyah Deyok. Unfortunately, the third doubles pairing of Jonathan Allen and Joseph struggled, falling 6-2 to Amier Cooper and Nate Banda.
Singles play saw the Wildcats face tough competition across the board. Mackey, playing at the first singles spot, was defeated in straight sets by Mafute. Johnathan also couldn't find his rhythm against Chirochia in the second singles match, losing in two sets. Anderson, however, earned a crucial win for Fort Valley State, defeating Carter in straight sets at the third singles position.
At the fourth singles spot, Joshua earned a strong two-set victory over Cooper. Meanwhile, Joseph's match against Deyok's was tied at 1-1 when it was left unfinished. Glover then suffered a two-set loss to Banda in the sixth singles match.
Match two
Men's Tennis was handed a tough 6-1 loss by Tuskegee University in their latest match, with the Wildcats struggling across both doubles and singles play.
In doubles action, the first team of Anderson and Alexander fought hard but were defeated 6-3 by Tyler Ladge and Eliyahu Pinkney. The second doubles pairing of Joshua and Jonathan could not get things going, losing 6-0 to Miles Wilson and Kevin Eutsey. The third doubles team of Joseph and White also faced a dominant performance from Zamani Moyo and Symon Brown, suffering a 6-0 loss.
In singles play, Anderson was defeated by Moyo in straight sets at the first singles spot. Joshua fell in two to Eutsey at the second singles position, and Joseph was unable to secure a win against Alleyne, losing in two sets. Mackey faced a tough challenge at the fourth singles spot, falling twice to Johnson.
Alexander provided a bright moment for the Wildcats, claiming a two set win over Jack Shaw in the fifth singles match. Unfortunately,
Braden Dandridge could not come back from a two-set loss to Ty'lon Miller at the sixth singles position.
Match three
Women's tennis was narrowly defeated by Clark Atlanta University 4-3 in a hard-fought match. In doubles action, the first doubles team of Samar Davis and
Jordynn Middlebrooks lost to Jumai Muhammed and Joiya Middlebrooks in a tiebreaker, 7-3. However, the Wildcats secured a victory in the second doubles match with
Valerie Dorelien and
Avery Harris defeating Alexander Turnbough and Janae Troupe 6-2.
In singles play, Dorelien was defeated in two sets by Muhammed in the first singles match. Middlebrooks also lost in two sets to Turnbough in the second singles. In the third singles, Harris emerged victorious, winning in two sets over Keynon Tompkins. Davis won a tough three-set match in the fourth singles against Troupe. In the fifth singles,
Armani Burch lost in two sets to Middlebrooks, securing the overall win for Clark Atlanta.
Match four
Women's tennis suffered a 6-1 loss to Benedict College in their latest match. In doubles play, Harris and Dorelien were narrowly defeated 7-5 by Patricia Wamba and Tanatswa Musabaeka in the first doubles. In the second doubles, Middlebrooks and
Gabrielle Ellison faced a tough challenge, losing 6-0 to Carmen Kpadonou and Valerie Essome.
In singles action, Harris was defeated in two sets by Essome in the first singles. Middlebrooks also lost in two sets to Musabaeka in the third singles. Burch was unable to secure a win, falling in two sets to Jordan Tanksley in the fourth singles.

Match one
Men's tennis suffered a heart-wrenching 4-3 loss to Morehouse College in a closely contested match that featured both highlights and tough battles across doubles and singles.
In doubles play, the first team of Joshua and Mackey were narrowly defeated by Jeremy Samuel and Santiago Sota. The second doubles pairing of Alexander and Anderson provided a bright spot for the Wildcats, securing a strong 6-0 win over Braxton Broady and Emmitt Hills. Unfortunately, the third doubles team of Joshua and Joseph came up short, losing 6-3 to Jackson McIllwain and Caleb Owens.
The singles competition saw intense battles. Anderson fought back from a second-set loss to secure a thrilling three-set victory over Samuel. Joshua then came through with a solid two-set win against Broady. However, Mackey was edged out in a tough three-set match against Sota, falling just short in the deciding set.
Alexander gave Fort Valley State another win, defeating Owens in straight sets at the fifth singles position. Dandridge, however, was defeated 5-7, 5-7 by Hill in the sixth singles spot, which ultimately sealed the match for Morehouse.
Match two
Women's tennis suffered a 7-0 defeat to Albany State University in their latest matchup. In doubles play, the first doubles team of Harris and Dorelien lost 6-1 to Jonay Brittain and Julie Tungamirai. The second doubles team of Middlebrooks and Ellison was defeated 6-0 by Natalya Ogunwale and Jenny Zapien. However, the third doubles team of Davis and Burch secured a 6-2 win over Kennedy Talbert and Mykala Eckler.
In singles action, Harris lost in two sets to Ogunwale in the first singles, and Dorelien was defeated in two sets by Brittain in the second singles. Davis also fell in two sets to Zapien in the fourth singles, while Burch lost in two sets to Talbert in the fifth singles.
