Wildcats Show Resilience Against Bobcats

Fort Valley, Ga. – Fort Valley State showed resilience and flashes of competitiveness in a tough doubleheader against Georgia College on Tuesday at Wildcat Field.

In the opener, the Wildcats battled in a low-scoring defensive contest but came up short in a 3–1 decision. Fort Valley State kept things tight early, holding Georgia College scoreless through the first three innings. The Wildcats' pitching staff limited damage for much of the game, and the defense played clean, error-free baseball.

Trailing late, Fort Valley State broke through in the seventh inning to get on the board, avoiding the shutout and showing fight until the final out despite being limited to just two hits on the afternoon.

Game two saw the Wildcats come out with more offensive energy, but Georgia College capitalized on early scoring opportunities to pull away for an 11–3 win.

Fort Valley State struck first in the opening inning and continued to show signs of life offensively, finishing with six hits. The Wildcats added runs in the fifth and seventh innings, demonstrating persistence at the plate even as the deficit grew. Despite the outcome, the team continued to compete throughout all seven innings, refusing to back down.

Across the doubleheader, Fort Valley displayed strong defensive moments, timely offensive flashes, and a competitive mindset that kept them battling from first pitch to last. The Wildcats will look to build on those positives as they travel southwest to take on the Rams of Albany State on Saturday, April 18, at 1 p.m.and 3 p.m.
