Broadnax named Coach of the Year

 Prior to their second place finish in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Cross Country Championship on Saturday, September 24^th, the Fort Valley State University (FVSU) Lady Wildcats Cross Country Team received two regular season awards from the conference office.

In recognition of their performance within their division, the Lady Wildcats were crowned the 2009 Northern Division Cross Country Champions of the SIAC.  In addition to the team award, Interim Head Coach Anthony Broadnax was voted SIAC Coach of the Year for the Northern Division.

The Coach of the Year honor was presented to Coach Broadnax by SIAC Commissioner George Moore at the Cross Country Championship.  In commenting on the award Broadnax said, “I'm humbled by the recognition.  The opportunity to coach this team is truly a gift from God.  This team is comprised of a young group of ladies (primarily freshmen) who really worked their hearts out.  I am just thankful that I, along with my outstanding student assistant coach Marquise Andrews, could contribute a measure of leadership to help them excel.”
