Lions Get Past Wildcats Volleyball

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Following a tough five-set defeat last night, the Wildcats started tough, but they could not get things going Friday evening. Paine College edged Fort Valley State in the opening set, 25-23, before it went on to take the three-set win, 3-0, in Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action.

After dropping that opening set, the Wildcats (3-13/2-12 SIAC East) had a rough second set (25-13) and a closer third set, 25-21, against the home Lions (12-7/7-4 SIAC East)

Nia Bell – 7 kills, ace, 3 digs
India King – 4 kills, block assist, one dig
Ceirra Wright – 4 kills and a solo block
Ashaunti Brown – 2 kills and 2 total blocks
Kawonica Ridley – 5 digs
Rita Davis – 13 assists, 7 digs, 1 ace
Ashley Simmons-Blair – 10 digs
Jaelyn Franklin – 5 digs, 1 kills, 1 assist and an ace

PC: Kennedy Curtis 8 kills

FVSU returns home against the same Paine College team next Wednesday night, Oct. 30, in a 6 p.m. match.
