Albany State Edges FVSU Women’s Tennis

ALBANY, Ga. – In a Thursday afternoon match, Fort Valley State's top two singles of Tynricia Smith and Kariah Kelly claimed victories, but Albany State edged the women's tennis win, 5-2.
 
Smith split the first two sets against the Rams' Latoya Boyd (6-3, 2-6), before a one-game third set went her way, 1-0. Kelly had an easier time at second singles with a straight sets 6-3 and 6-1 win over Alani Gauthier.
 
FVSU's Brishon Bridges battled for two sets, but dropped a close 3-6 and 4-6 decision to Ana Maria Forero.
 
Kelly and Smith combed for a 6-1 second doubles victory, but Albany State won the other two doubles sets for the doubles team point.
 
The FVSU women turn to the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference next on April 11-13 in Peachtree City, Ga.
