Wildcats’ Bryant Reaches 400 Career Softball Coaching Wins

2/26/2020 4:26:00 PM

FORT VALLEY, Ga. – It takes a long time and a lot of successful days on the diamond to reach many coaching milestones. Fort Valley State's softball head coach Jason Bryant recently reached one such milestone with his 400th career collegiate softball victory.

In his third year directing the FVSU program, the veteran coach has made great strides already with the Wildcats to bringing the team up the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball ranks. Bryant has produced back-to-back double-digit win seasons in seven years, won 34 games in two years and helped the team make its first SIAC Tournament appearance over four seasons.

Between his long tenure at NAIA member Brewton-Parker College and now here at FVSU, coach Bryant has a reputation of producing quality teams, which have helped him reach this win plateau.

"(Being able to reach 400 wins) It took a lot of young ladies working really hard for me over the years," said Bryant. "It is ironic, though, that when I won my 300th game it was against Fort Valley State. And now, my 400th came coaching here at Fort Valley State."

The Wildcats coach continued, "It takes a lot of work and sacrifice to get to 400 wins, and I am planning on getting to 500 and beyond. The kids, who have pitched, caught, hit and ran for my teams are all the major part in the success of me being able to reach 400 wins."

The FVSU coach, who is 3-5 on the early season of the 2020 campaign, plans to continue building a SIAC Championship team here in The Valley and beyond in the NCAA Division II playoffs.

"I am in my third year here at FVSU and I love coaching here. It is an honor and privilege to be able to coach softball at this great institution."

A heartfelt congrats to the coach down at third base and in the front corner of the dugout at Wildcat Field on putting up a "W" in the win-loss column now 400-plus times.
