Darville Earns All-SIAC, Leads Wildcats Women’s XC to Best Championship Finish in 12 Years

ROCK HILL, S.C. –
 After earning the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Runner of the Week, the Wildcats senior helped the team to new heights. Kaisha Darville ran to fourth place and the Fort Valley State team captured fourth place for the best finish in at least 12 years at the SIAC Cross Country Championships Friday morning.
 
Darville cross the 5k finish line in 21:26.9 for fourth place. The senior from Stuart, Fla., earned All-SIAC status with her top 10 placing.
 
With Darville's top five place, FVSU grabbed fourth place in the nine-team field with a team score of 120 for the program's best finish in at least 12 years. The Wildcats women won the 2001 SIAC title. Spring Hill claimed the team title with a score of 30 with Albany State (48) and Benedict (67) in second and third place.
 
Following the top Wildcat to finish, Anaya Arnold was next in 20th place (23:43.2). Faith Hill was the first personal best for the FVSU women with a time of 25:06.2 in 28th. Montana Williams crossed next in 33rd (25:50.1), before D'liyah Austell set her personal best in 27:11.4 (36th) and Gabrielle Brown completed the team's contingent in 40th (30:07.2).
