ATLANTA, Ga. – The Wildcats grabbed another league weekly award. For the second time this fall, Fort Valley State's Dakotah Holmes earned the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week honor.

Helping FVSU split two home matches last weekend, Holmes hit a solid .444 over the six sets with 21 kills in 45 swings with only one error. She also dug 10 attacks, handed out a pair of assists and was in on one block.

Against Benedict on Saturday afternoon, the freshman outside hitter downed nine kills with one error in 19 attacks for a .421 rate along with four digs and an assist. The Hampton, Ga., native followed it up with 12 kills without an error in 26 swings at a .462 percentage with six digs, an assist and a block assist.

The first-year Wildcat has totaled 163 kills, 172 digs, 14 aces, 14 digs and 17 blocks over 67 sets played within FVSU's 18 matches.

Holmes and the Wildcats (12-7/10-7 SIAC East) play an important SIAC East match tonight against Division-leading Albany State in Albany, Ga., starting at 6 p.m.
