FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Fort Valley State University Women's Volleyball has officially clinched the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Eastern Division title.
The Wildcats are enjoying their best season since 2000, when they finished 34-4 (.894) overall and a perfect 8-0 in SIAC play. The Wildcats have not won the SIAC title since going back-to-back in 1999 and 2000. Among their biggest wins this year are two five-set victories over defending 2024 East Division Champions, Albany State University. This season also marks the first time since 2004 that the Wildcats have defeated or swept Edward Waters University.
The successful 2025 campaign has been powered by the dominant play of
Benaye Kyle and
Dakotah Holmes. Kyle leads the team with 297 kills, averaging 3.86 per set, and has added 18 service aces. Holmes follows closely with 264 kills (3.22 per set) and 23 aces.
Morgan Hebert has been the engine of the FVSU offense, dishing out 472 assists (7.74 per set) to go with 24 service aces and 26 kills.
Defensively, the Wildcats have been just as strong.
Sarah Rosario and
Naoma Yancey have anchored the back row all season. Rosario leads the team with 278 digs (3.16 per set) and also tops the squad in service aces with 44 (0.50 per set). Yancey has totaled 272 digs (3.40 per set) along with 26 aces. At the net,
Imani Stokes and
Brooke Matthews have provided a formidable presence. Stokes has recorded 62 total blocks, including 20 solo (.86 per set), along with 162 kills. Matthews has tallied 44 total blocks, 13 of them solo, and added 59 kills.
FVSU leads the SIAC in service aces and opponent hitting percentage while ranking second in points, hitting percentage, opponent assists, opponent kills, opponent service aces, and digs. The Wildcats also sit among the conference's top five in assists, kills, opponent blocks, and total blocks.
