After her prep years at Southwest High School in Macon, GA where she was a 2 sport athlete in Track & Field and Girls’ Basketball, Paula decided to take her talents to Fort Valley State College. Although volleyball was not considered a high school sport in Bibb County, Paula loved the sport. She missed Fort Valley State’s inaugural year in 1985 and joined the volleyball team in 1986 and played through 1989.
Paula received several accolades while playing volleyball including team captain, three times team MVP, and was the school’s first ALL SIAC performer in Women’s Volleyball. As an outside hitter and back up setter, Paula would embrace the sport and would quickly become a force to be reckoned with throughout the SIAC.
Paula’s double major of Biology and Psychology prompted her to return home and start her own business. Community Development Systems Inc, was established in 2001 in an effort to help the community have a more positive affect on its emotional and mental health.
